New polling by Savanta reveals that half of UK voters and four in ten Brexit supporters want to prioritise stronger defence ties with European allies over the United States.

The Lib Dems are calling for a UK-EU growth and defence partnership, which would include rejoining the European single market and establishing a joint security council.
Senior figures including Lord Kinnock and George Osborne have also urged the government to reconsider its stance on Europe to support economic recovery.
A government spokesperson maintained that the UK is building an ambitious relationship with the EU to improve national security and unlock economic growth.
