KIULU: Construction of the Kg Bayag bridge, here, has surpassed 80 per cent completion and is expected to be completed 134 days ahead of schedule, said Kiulu Assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
He said the progress was conveyed to him by Tuaran Public Works Department (PWD) District Engineer Farini Awang and the contractor during a visit to the project site after he attended the Kiulu Sub-District Development Action Committee meeting.
Joniston said the encouraging progress reflected ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and accelerate development in Kiulu.
He said the bridge would not only ease residents’ movement but also serve as a catalyst for future development in Pekan Kiulu.
“Once the bridge is completed, it will pave the way for the expansion of Pekan Kiulu involving 22.5 acres of state land in Bayag,” he said in a Facebook post.
The bridge is also expected to improve connectivity between villages, making it easier for residents to carry out their daily activities.
Among the villages expected to benefit are Kampung Tombung, Kampung Namadan, Kampung Bambangan Lama and Kampung Lingga Baru.
Joniston, who is also Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, said improved infrastructure was essential to provide residents with better access while supporting local economic activities and development.
He expressed hope that the project would be completed as scheduled, allowing residents to enjoy its benefits and enabling Kiulu’s development agenda to move forward.
The bridge is expected to play a strategic role in strengthening connectivity in the area and creating opportunities for further development around Kiulu.
