Netflix is expanding the world of Bridgerton with a new spin-off that will explore the love story of one of the franchise’s most beloved characters. Announced on 8 October 2026, the upcoming spin-off will focus on a younger Lady Violet Bridgerton and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, the parents of the eight Bridgerton siblings.
The announcement comes as production on Bridgerton season 5 continues in London. Following the success of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the new spin-off will offer another glimpse into the past of the ton, this time exploring the relationship that shaped the Bridgerton family’s matriarch.
Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will serve as writers, showrunners and executive producers on the upcoming limited series. Tom Verica, who has directed episodes of Bridgerton and other Shondaland productions, will direct and executive produce the spin-off. Betsy Beers will also serve as an executive producer.

Who is in the cast?
Netflix has not confirmed the cast members of the upcoming spin-off. Ruth Gemmell plays the adult Lady Violet Bridgerton in the main series, while Connie Jenkins-Greig portrayed the younger version of the character in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
However, it remains unclear whether Jenkins-Greig will reprise her role in the new series. The actor playing Viscount Edmund Bridgerton has also not been announced.
More casting details are expected to emerge as the project moves forward.
