Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi admits he wants to keep Danny Welbeck.
The striker's deal expires at the end of this season.
Before defeat at Luton, De Zerbi said: I hope the club can extend his contract because he is still a great player, and he is important in the dressing room."
Welbeck is in his fourth season with the Seagulls.
He is now on 107 games for Brighton.
