Brighton are moving to trump Napoli to the signing of Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic.
Napoli have been in talks with Udinese this month for the Serbia international. However, negotiations have stalled over Udinese's price demands.
La Gazzetta dello Sport says Brighton have now stepped in and hope to close an agreement quickly.
The Seagulls are offering 20m plus 5m in bonuses for Samardzic.
For the moment, Samardzic prefers Napoli over Brighton, but sources close to the player say nothing is set in stone.
