Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta) has urged the authorities for safeguarding the city by reinstating tourist police as suggested by State Tourism, Environment and Culture Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
“These incidents significantly impact tourism, upon which Sabah’s economy heavily relies,” said Satta Chairman Datuk Seri Winston Liaw, referring to two robberies and the smashing of the window panels of a banks in the city which affects both locals and tourists.
The suspect, an 18-year-old believed to be responsible for both robbery cases, has been arrested.
Acting city police chief Supt Kalsom Idris said the suspect was arrested near a supermarket on Jalan Gaya at about 8pm on Thursday (Feb 15).
