  • British Airways is set to resume flights from London Heathrow to Melbourne, Australia, in January 2027, extending its daily London-Kuala Lumpur service.
  • This marks BA's return to Melbourne after decades, with the city increasingly rivalling Sydney in commercial and tourist importance.
  • The airline will also reinstate its route to Colombo, Sri Lanka, from October 2026, operating three times a week during the winter season.
  • BA is increasing frequencies on several existing long-haul routes, including Delhi, Cape Town and Tokyo Haneda, aiming for a nine per cent increase in long-haul flights next winter.
  • While planned before the Middle East conflict, the expansion is expected to benefit from a growing preference for non-stop flights to Asian destinations; separately, BA has extended cancellations to Amman, Bahrain, Dubai and Tel Aviv until 31 May.
