Briton treated for Hantavirus in Netherlands returns to UK

  • A British national, previously treated for hantavirus in the Netherlands, has been medically evacuated back to the UK.
  • The individual is now following stringent infection prevention and control measures, as confirmed by the Health Security Agency (HSA).
  • This case is linked to an outbreak on the cruise ship MV Hondius, which has seen at least 11 passenger cases and three fatalities.
  • British crew member Martin Anstee, 56, was among those evacuated from the ship and received specialist medical care.
  • Six more people connected to the hantavirus outbreak have been discharged from hospital to continue their isolation at home, with health officials stating the wider public risk remains very low.
