SEMPORNA: Bajau Darat and Bajau Laut communities on Mabul Island here received holistic support during a Day of Action 2024 mission organised by the Malam Minggu Pusat Belia (MMPB), a youth-led organisation from Brunei.

The programme, themed “Setitis Harapan, Sejuta Senyuman” was co-organised by Scuba Buddy, Mabul, whose logistical and local support was integral in connecting the MMPB team with the Bajau communities, including the Madrasah Al Amin and Surau Pulau Pelancongan Nur Rezky.

She said while the Bajau may be stateless, their resilience and spirit is an inspiration to all.

Meanwhile, the volunteers engaged in spiritual and cultural connections, conducted spiritual session at Surau Nur Rezky, participated in traditional children’s games and promoted unity and mutual respect.

The mission was supported by numerous local sponsors and exemplified the power of volunteerism, cross-border collaboration, and compassionate community engagement.

Founded with the mission to inspire positive change, MMPB frequently organises activities that promote social responsibility and strengthen regional ties.

The Day of Action is a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport.

Over the years since 2019, MMPB has extended its outreach beyond Brunei, fostering humanitarian efforts in underserved communities across Southeast Asia.
