Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above will receive a one-off RM100 payment under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative in February 2026. The new measure, introduced under Belanjawan MADANI 2026, aims to provide direct financial relief to help Malaysians manage rising living costs.
Continued Support For Lower-Income Households
Alongside the one-off payment, the government will continue its existing Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and SARA assistance programmes, benefiting nine million Malaysians in total.
Households earning below RM2,500 with five children will receive up to RM4,600 a year, comprising RM2,200 through STR and RM2,400 through SARA.
Higher Monthly Assistance For e-Kasih Recipients
Under the new budget, households listed under the e-Kasih database will receive RM200 per month, double the previous SARA rate of RM100. The higher rate is intended to strengthen support for vulnerable and low-income families.
Meanwhile, other eligible households will continue receiving RM100 monthly, and single individuals will get RM600 per year, equivalent to RM50 monthly through SARA.
Funded Through Fuel Subsidy Savings
The government has allocated RM15 billion for STR and SARA in 2026, funded by savings from fuel subsidy rationalisation under the BUDI95 and diesel subsidy programmes.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to easing financial pressures on households while ensuring that subsidy savings are channelled back to the rakyat in a more targeted and transparent way.
