
Budget 2027 doubles home repair aid for disaster victims to RM10,000, allocates RM260 million to NADMA and funds flood mitigation and rescue operations.
KUALA LUMPUR: Home repair aid for disaster victims will be doubled from RM5,000 to RM10,000 under Budget 2027, as the government moves to strengthen early disaster preparedness and response.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling the budget today, said the National Disaster Management Agency would receive RM260 million next year.
He said six flood mitigation projects worth RM336 million had been completed, while 82 flood mitigation projects were currently being implemented according to schedule.
New projects to be implemented next year include the Kuching City flood mitigation project, Phase 2 of the Sungai Golok integrated river basin development project in Kelantan, and the Sungai Kemaman integrated river basin development project in Terengganu.
Anwar said nearly RM320 million would also be provided to repair and upgrade slopes, drains and drainage systems in local authority areas nationwide, while 17 amphibious craft would be acquired to speed up Civil Defence Force rescue operations.
