Budget 2027 allocates RM1.1 billion to strengthen MACC, police and other enforcement agencies, while expanding transparency in government procurement.
PETALING JAYA: The government has allocated RM1.1 billion to strengthen the operational capabilities of enforcement agencies, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) and Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC), under Budget 2027.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government would also work with government-linked companies (GLCs) and the corporate sector to improve public service delivery.
“For example, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and telecommunications companies will be involved in providing rural electricity supply and internet connectivity to accelerate project implementation by pooling government funding with companies’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions,” he said when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Anwar said the government would also enhance transparency in public procurement following the implementation of the Government Procurement Act in 2027.
He said project information, including the names of contractors and contract values, would be made public to strengthen accountability in the awarding and implementation of government projects.
