Budget 2027 sets aside RM3 billion for HRD Corp to offer 3 million skills training opportunities, alongside funding for trainees and specialised programmes.
PETALING JAYA: Malaysians will have access to three million skills training opportunities under a RM3 billion initiative by the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), as the government moves to strengthen workforce skills under Budget 2027.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative would also cover continuing professional development, while the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) would provide RM500 million to finance trainees at registered public and private skills training institutions.
He said the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) would train 10,000 youths in robotics and digital technologies to open up career opportunities and reduce dependence on foreign labour.
Meanwhile, MARA will train and place 1,000 Bumiputera youths in high-growth sectors, while GIATMARA electrical wiring trainees will help repair wiring in 20,000 low-income households.
Anwar added that specialised training would also be provided for retiring Armed Forces personnel, tahfiz students and graduates pursuing high-skilled automotive careers through various training institutions.
