Budget 2027 to drive Malaysian products into global markets, says Amir Hamzah

BUDGET 2027 will place greater emphasis on helping Malaysian businesses, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups, expand into global markets as the Government seeks to turn more locally developed products and services into internationally competitive offerings.

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the Government would continue to prioritise high-value sectors such as semiconductors, energy transition, the digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI) and Islamic finance, while widening access to financing, technology and overseas markets.

“Focus will continue to be given to sectors such as semiconductors, energy transition, the digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI) as well as Islamic finance.

“The Government is empowering MSMEs and start-ups as drivers of domestic economic growth by increasing access to financing, digitalisation, innovation and market expansion so that more local products and services can penetrate global value chains as Made by Malaysia,” he said.

He was speaking at the Budget 2027 Engagement Session at the Ministry of Finance in Putrajaya today.

Amir said the Government would also prioritise efforts to raise incomes and create more quality employment opportunities, while addressing cost-of-living pressures through targeted and sustainable measures.

“The main objective is to ensure that the benefits of economic growth are felt more broadly across all levels of society,” he added.

The Government will also strengthen social protection for vulnerable groups through greater collaboration with - non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations and strategic partners.

Improving public services will remain another priority, including strengthening the education system, raising healthcare standards and developing human capital to support more inclusive economic growth under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13).
