PUTATAN: The implementation of poverty eradication programmes in Budget 2025 will undoubtedly focus on Sabah, which has eight out of the 10 poorest districts in the country.

Minister of Economy, Rafizi Ramli, said he is confident that the Federal Government’s priority in Budget 2025 is to mobilise programmes to ensure that the large poverty gap can be reduced.

He said that the unity government’s policy is to ensure balanced development across all regions.

The administration of Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, places great importance on efforts to eradicate poverty.

“So, the efforts and priorities of the Federal Government will certainly channel programmes and resources to mobilise (poverty eradication) programmes to these places.

“Whatever the circumstances, Sabah will certainly continue to receive the highest priority in terms of Federal expenditure,” he said after the Keadilan Menang Convention Series for the 16th General Election (Kemas16) and 25 Years of Pemerkasaan Organisasi Parti (POP25), here, on Saturday.

He said that allocations and implementation needed to be coordinated so that they could be managed quickly and well, so that the results could benefit the people.

“I want that when funds are allocated to Sabah, the poverty eradication programme can run well and the results can be enjoyed by the people.

“If not, we will continuously receive allocations but the implementation is not coordinated. In the end, the people cannot wait if we do not implement it. So, manage it quickly and well so that existing problems do not get worse,” he said.
