The government is right on track in giving much attention to the fiscal management of Malaysia, especially in the preparation of Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to table the Budget 2027 in Parliament this Friday, 09 October, 2026. Indeed this coming budget is the most challenging one the MADANI Government has to experience, given the critical issues it has to address. In fact, I am not surprised the Budget will definitely be the forerunner of several new economic policies by the government for the people of Malaysia, covering the overall economic growth & national economic management. As such, in order to rein in public expenditure, and the efforts to raise revenue need courage from the government and strong public support to see them through. The government has to scale down unnecessary expenditure and collect more revenue so as to finance the debt repayments and to meet critical basic social needs and obligatory requests.

I think Malaysia is once again at a moment of reckoning. Powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart. Bonds of trust & respect are fraying. And just as our founding, there are no guarantees. The future is ours to choose. We have to decide whether we will once again come together and work together so we can all rise together: We have to decide whether we still believe with in our nation's motto: “Bersekutu Bertambah Mutu”, which translate to Unity is Strength. Out of many races, we are one as Malaysians. Make no mistake - we face our fair share of threats, uncertainty and lots of challenges. Our economy is not working the way it should for too many Malaysians. A lot of people feel there is less and less respect for the work they do - and less respect for them, as individuals.

But considering the strengths we bring as Malaysians to meet these challenges. We have the most dynamic and diverse people in the world. We have the most tolerant and generous young people we've ever had. We have the most innovative teachers, entrepreneurs, especially SME owners, workers at large & civil servants. We should be proud that those words are associated with Malaysia.
