I understand from the Budget 2027 speech delivered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Parliament that national resilience for the future generations involves shifting from reactive crisis management to long-term systemic investments in economy, climate adaptation & institutional stability. The core pillars on national resilience are building high-income, diversified economies through sustained reforms, digital transformation, and AI integration - as highlighted by Malaysia's recent performance at the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings with 5.7% quarterly GDP growth. Implementing long-term frameworks such as Malaysia's National Climate Change Policy 2.0, the Malaysia National Adaptation Plan (MNAP) & green transition strategies to protect water, food, and ecosystem. Moving away from short-term “boom and bust” disaster spending toward institutionalized funds and strategic investments in students & youth, green jobs, and critical infrastructure.

I learned from the media that Malaysia's message at the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok is clear: the country is back in business, backed by political stability, policy clarity and sustained reforms that are strengthening investor confidence amid global uncertainty. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said these factors helped attract foreign direct investment (FDI), while Malaysia's economy remained resilient despite geopolitical tensions and disruptions to global trade. He said, “Malaysia is also demonstrating its commitment to fiscal discipline and good governance through reforms, including the Fiscal Responsibility Act & Government Procurement Act. Further legislation covering subsidies & GLCs would strengthen transparency, accountability.”

I believe to build a secure future for subsequent generations, modern governance must integrate institutional frameworks that explicitly account for the long-term impact of the current government policies. Global frameworks, like the United Nations' Declaration on Future Generations, mandate that the present generation acts as responsible stewards to protect the environment, human rights, and socioeconomic stability for those yet to be born.
