Good news for Malaysian government servants! Around 1.3 million civil servants are set to receive RM1,500 in special financial assistance in 2027, according to an announcement by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of Budget 2027. The assistance is intended to recognise the contributions of civil servants to the country, providing additional financial support for eligible government employees.

Who Is Eligible for the RM1,500 Assistance?

According to the announcement, the RM1,500 special financial assistance will be given to civil servants in Grade Utama B and below, including contract employees. More than one million government pensioners, including retired and non-pensionable veterans, will also receive special financial assistance of RM750 each.

When Will the RM1,500 Be Paid?

The government plans to distribute the RM1,500 assistance in two instalments.

  • First instalment: Before Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027.
  • Second instalment: In the lead-up to Malaysia's 70th anniversary of Merdeka.

This means eligible civil servants can expect to receive part of the assistance before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which may help them manage additional expenses during the festive season.

However, the exact payment dates and the amount for each instalment should be confirmed through the government's official announcements.

Is This Duit Raya for Government Servants?

Although many civil servants may view the payment as ‘duit raya’ because the first instalment is scheduled before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the government officially describes it as special financial assistance.

The full RM1,500 is not scheduled to be paid in a single instalment before Raya. Instead, it will be distributed in two payments according to the announced schedule.

What About Government Pensioners?

Government pensioners, including retired and non-pensionable veterans, are also set to benefit from the announcement. They will receive RM750 each in special financial assistance, providing additional support for their expenses.

The RM1,500 special financial assistance is welcome news for eligible civil servants, particularly with the first payment expected before Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027. For many government employees, the additional money could help cover festive preparations, household expenses and other financial commitments.

Are you happy with the RM1,500 assistance, or do you think the government should provide a larger amount? Share your thoughts in the comments!
