MALAYSIA remains committed to working with international agencies to bring back fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low to face charges in this country.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), said there is no evidence so far that Jho Low who is the main mastermind of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal is in China, as stated by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
According to the CCID, Malaysia is, however, working closely with international law enforcement agencies.
"The Minister (Saifuddin) previously also stated that so far the allegations regarding the location and use of a passport by Jho Low have not been supported by facts or any valid and authentic evidence.
"The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) through the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has always maintained close and continuous cooperation with authorities and international law enforcement agencies in an effort to track down the individual," the department said in a statement today.
Previously, international media reported that Jho Low was suspected of residing in Shanghai with a false identity using an Australian passport in the name of Constantinos Achilles Veis.
The report also claimed that he lives in the elite Green Hills area, drives a luxury car and operates from his office in the Shanghai Financial Center.
It also said that Malaysia is still actively pursuing his extradition process, although Jho Low is believed to be moving freely in the city.
The report also claimed that Jho Low now acts as a strategic advisor to the Chinese government. – September 8, 2025
