Kota Kinabalu: Bukit Harapan has become the first beneficiary of ECoS’ Khidmat Budi Tenaga Lestari Programme with the installation of a 12.2kWp Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System aimed at reducing its electricity costs.
The system was sponsored and installed by Easy Solar Sdn Bhd under the Selco-PV Sabah 2.0 Programme and was officially handed over during a ceremony at Bukit Harapan on June 19.
ECoS Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Corporate Services) Ernie Zainie said the programme reflects the commission’s commitment to ensuring Sabah’s energy transition delivers tangible benefits to communities through the adoption of clean and sustainable energy.
Easy Solar Director Dave Ang Jin Leong said the company opted to support Bukit Harapan because of its long-standing role in serving vulnerable communities, adding that lower electricity costs would allow more resources to be channelled towards its residents.
ECoS said the initiative builds on its broader Khidmat Budi community outreach efforts and demonstrates how collaboration between regulators, industry players and community organisations can create lasting social impact while supporting Sabah’s sustainable energy goals.
