The Malaysia Cup final will stay at Bukit Jalil Stadium as planned, with upgrades scheduled after the match to prepare for the 2027 SEA Games.
BUKIT JALIL: The National Stadium here will host the 2025-2026 Malaysia Cup final on May 23 as scheduled.
Malaysian Football League president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan confirmed the venue, ending speculation about a potential change due to planned stadium upgrades.
He stated that the Malaysia Stadium Corporation has permitted the MFL to complete the cup final before the venue closes for renovation works from June to September.
“The match date and venue remain unchanged,” said Ab Ghani.
He added that the FA Cup final for the following season may be affected, but solutions will be explored.
PSM chief executive officer Ilyas Jamil explained the temporary closure is for replacing the athletics track ahead of the 2027 SEA Games.
“We identified a suitable window to ensure the Malaysia Cup final can still be held here,” Ilyas said.
He expressed hope that the next season’s FA Cup final could also be held at the stadium, depending on renovation progress.
The announcements were made at the MFL 2025-2026 Football Clinic event in Kuala Lumpur.
The clinic involved 40 children aged eight to 12 as part of grassroots development efforts.
Former national players Datuk Zainal Abidin Hassan and Safee Sali participated by sharing experiences and conducting coaching sessions.
