Telipok: More than 300 residents of Bukit Payung have sought the intervention of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to overcome the water supply problem in their housing area.

Bukit Payung JPKK Chairman Robert Silati said the residents had been without water for six days and their efforts to contact the Tuaran Water Department were futile.

“We have not received any explanation about the water problem in Bukit Payung. In fact, our repeated calls to the relevant officials have not been answered,” he said.

Robert, who represented the residents of V12 KKIP Bukit Payung Resettlement, claimed the relevant parties did not want to listen to their complaints.

According to him, they received unofficial information about the water problem in Tank No. 17 of the Water Department near UUC which could not receive water from the plant. It was suspected that the pump was not working, he said.

He claimed the housing area frequently experienced water cuts which demanded responsible officials in the Water Department to deal with the problem immediately.
