Kota Kinabalu: Speech by Deputy Chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan at the Launch of the GRS Youth Machinery, last Sunday, contains no elements of incitement, said Gagasan Rakyat Information Chief Datuk Nizam bin Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Titingan.
Instead, he said Dr Jeffrey’s speech during the event aimed to inspire the youth machinery regarding the mission and struggles of the party, emphasising the principle of “Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga” (Our Home, Our Responsibility).

“The question is, why did Sabah Umno Chief react so strong to this speech? Is he indirectly admitting that Umno is the traitor within the Sabah Government?

“What relevance does the political journey of a leader have to do with this issue?” he said in a statement, Wednesday.

However, he said it seems that he (Bung) is still struggling to accept the reality that the Barisan Nasional (BN) era is over and now is the era of GRS, with a clear mission and the struggle of the people of Sabah driven by the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Plan.

“His attack on the principle of ‘Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga’ only highlights his and Umno’s anxiety over their waning public support.
“As Dr Jeffrey, who is also Star Sabah President, pointed out the people of Sabah must unite with their leaders to reject the divide-and-rule tactics that have undermined the State’s development, economy, and social wellbeing for decades under Umno’s administration.
“Dr Jeffrey’s arguments are based on facts, not political rhetoric. Bung, as a long-serving Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, is surely aware that the latter area remains underdeveloped and impoverished.
“This is clear evidence of the failure of the administrative model he (Bung) represents,” said Nizam who is also a member of GRS Information Bureau.
Even more shocking, he added, is Bung’s reliance on the questionable videos recording with obvious political motives.
“Is Bung part of this conspiracy, acting as both prosecutor and judge?” Nizam asked.
As a leader, he said Bung should be wise enough to understand that any edited video, audio, or image lacking credibility would not be accepted as evidence in court.
Nizam said it would be better for him (Bung) to focus on the court charges he is currently facing.
“My advice to Bung is to avoid meddling in others’ affairs, focus on the real issues, and adhere to the country’s laws without making reckless accusations,” he said.
