- Speaking ahead of a meeting with US President Donald Trump at UNGA, Mr Burnham stressed that securing the base is vital for UK and allied national security.
- During a phone call with Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, Mr Burnham committed to working alongside Mauritius and the US to find a way forward.
- UK and Mauritian foreign ministers are expected to meet at the UN General Assembly to further strengthen bilateral relations.
