Kuala Lumpur: Bursa Malaysia began the day with a promise, only to lose the verve in early trading, but the ringgit managed to extend its good run to start the day higher.

The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) opened the day’s trading session at 1,487.04, a 1.91-point gain over yesterday’s close of 1,485.13.

But just five minutes later, it lost the little gain and more to settle at 1,484.65, taking the cue from the mixed regional market performances despite a better showing overnight on Wall Street.

On the money market, the ringgit started on a positive note despite the fact that the US Federal Reserve’s stance on its monetary policy signalled renewed buying interest for the greenback.

At 9.13am, the local note rose slightly to 4.3710/4.3760 against the greenback from yesterday’s close of 4.3715/4.3755.
