KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 —Bursa Malaysia eased marginally at mid-afternoon on continued losses in heavyweights led by Petronas Chemicals and Public Bank.

At 3 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 1.28 points to 1,445.14 compared to Friday’s close of 1,446.42.

The market bellwether opened 2.72 points higher to 1,449.14.

The broader market was negative with losers outpacing gainers 407 to 381, while 373 counters were unchanged, 1,191 untraded, and 12 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.6 billion units worth RM984.97 million.

Heavyweights, Petronas Chemicals dipped 12 sen to RM8.88, while Public Bank and IOI Corp declined six sen each to RM4.44 and RM3.88 respectively.

Tenaga Nasional declined eight sen to RM8.25, Hong Leong Bank slid 18 sen to RM21.12 and PPB gave up 16 sen to RM16.64.

Axiata and Maybank remained higher, gaining 14 sen and eight sen to RM2.74 and RM8.74 respectively.

Of the actives, Eduspec, Serba Dinamik, and MyEG were all flat at 2.0 sen, 2.5 sen, and 83 sen respectively.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 10.80 points to 10,231.70, the FBM 70 climbed 79.42 points to 12,108.05, and the FBMT 100 Index improved 8.34 points to 9,978.80.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index bagged 17.32 points to 10,214.72 and the FBM ACE perked up 15.0 points to 4,816.27.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index trimmed 12.56 points to 16,498.52, and the Energy Index edged down 0.55 of-a-point to 679.00.

The Industrial Products and Services Index shed 0.49 of-a-point to 175.27 and the Plantation Index dropped 35.59 points to 6,771.68. — Bernama
