
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 ― Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon, dragged by continuous selling in selected heavyweights led by plantation and consumer product stocks.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 2.33 points to 1,472.05 from yesterday's closing of 1,474.38. The index opened 2.15 points higher at 1,476.53.
On the broader market, decliners beat gainers 445 to 370, while 381 counters were unchanged, 1,066 untraded and 10 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.86 billion units valued at RM1.01 million.
Among the Bursa heavyweights, Maybank added five sen to RM8.75, Public Bank stayed flat at RM4.40, Petronas Chemicals and CIMB gained one sen to RM8.49 and RM5.75, and TNB rose six sen to RM9.26.
Of the actives, ITMAX advanced 32 sen to RM1.39, SNS increased 1.5 sen to 24 sen, AT Systematization was unchanged at 1.5 sen, Advance Synergy shed half-a-sen to 17.5 sen, and Velesto added half-a-sen to 16 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index dropped 0.76 of-a-point to 10,585.76, the FBMT 100 Index rose 1.04 points to 10,289.62, the FBM Emas Shariah Index weakened 14.82 points to 10,718.33, the FBM 70 edged up 70.62 points to 12,988.89, and the FBM ACE gave up 41.22 points to 5,452.42.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 34.44 points higher at 16,574.27, the Plantation Index contracted 63.41 points to 6,689.08, the Industrial Products and Services Index shaved 0.62 of-a-point to 180.81, and the Energy Index added 5.03 points to 783.49. ― Bernama
