
KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 ― Bursa Malaysia's main index remained on a low note at mid-morning, dragged down by continuous profit-taking in most heavyweights counters.
At 11.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell by 3.08 points to 1,430.66 from yesterday’s close of 1,433.74, after opening 2.16 points weaker at 1,431.58.
The market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 494 to 174, while 354 counters were unchanged, 1,220 untraded and 21 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.31 billion units worth RM648.10 million.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank and IHH Healthcare were three sen lower at RM8.73 and RM5.86, respectively, and Public Bank fell one sen to RM4.0, while Petronas Chemicals added one sen to RM7.18 and Tenaga Nasional rose 13 sen to RM9.18.
Among the most active, Autocount gained 48 sen to 81 sen, Seal Incorporated increased 12.5 sen to 45.5 sen and Salutica was 11.5 sen higher at RM1.04, while Bahvest lost 6.5 sen to 12.5 sen and Hong Seng slipped half-a-sen to 11.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index reduced 34.97 points to 10,431.55, the FBMT 100 Index shed 31.72 points to 10,129.04, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index eased 29.13 points to 10,728.73.
The FBM ACE Index dipped 102.08 points to 5,020.13 and the FBM 70 index shaved 83.16 points to 13,356.85.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index went down 0.67 points to 169.66, the Energy Index trimmed 2.94 points to 837.38, the Plantation Index decreased by 8.04 points to 6,820.52 and the Financial Services Index narrowed by 52.18 points to 15,698.61. ― Bernama
