Bursa Malaysia opens lower, tracking Wall Street’s slump

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — Bursa Malaysia trended lower in early trading, tracking Wall Street’s decline as traders weighed on the latest batch of data suggesting the United States (US) economic growth was weakening, said an analyst.

At 9.05 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 9.94 points to 1,581.09 from Friday’s close of 1,591.03.

The benchmark index opened 4.64 points easier at 1,586.39.

On the broader market, decliners outpaced gainers 252 to 74, with 266 counters unchanged, 1,761 untraded and 10 suspended.

Turnover stood at 180.28 million shares worth RM76.11 million.
