KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 ― Bursa Malaysia stayed higher at mid-morning today, bolstered by positive sentiments in regional peers and continuous buying in selected heavyweights led by healthcare and financial services.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,426.89, up 6.51 points from yesterday's close of 1,420.38.

The market bellwether opened 5.14 points higher at 1,425.52.

On the broader market, gainers outpaced losers 396 to 258, while 302 counters were unchanged, 1,370 untraded, and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 844.58 million units valued at RM382.34 million.

Heavyweights IHH Healthcare added seven sen to RM5.98, Hartalega gained five sen to RM1.97, Maybank rose four sen to RM8.45, Hong Leong Bank improved 20 sen to RM20.64, and Axiata perked three sen to RM2.76.

Among the actives, Citaglobal went up one sen to 30 sen, Bina Puri and NWP Holdings were flat at 2.5 sen and 24 sen respectively, Top Glove and Awanbiru rose two sen to 74 sen and 51.5 sen respectively.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index expanded 37.57 points to 10,141.09, the FBM 70 climbed 12.81 points to 12,072.52, and the FBMT 100 Index increased 37.01 points to 9,875.20.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index widened 38.92 points to 10,197.47 and the FBM ACE put on 18.81 points to 4,905.24.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index garnered 45.42 points to 16,101.06, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 0.51 of-a-point to 172.77, the Energy Index was 8.38 points firmer at 716.42, while the Plantation Index shed 17.49 points to 6,699.54. ― Bernama
