
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 ― Bursa Malaysia stayed in the red at mid-afternoon on continued selling in selected heavyweights, in tandem with the weakness in most regional peers, a dealer said.
At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) erased 3.29 points to 1,467.46 from yesterday's close of 1,470.75.
The key index opened 0.55 points higher at 1,471.30.
Market breadth was also negative with losers trouncing gainers 546 to 284, while 391 counters were unchanged, 953 untraded and 22 others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 2.27 billion units worth RM1.19 billion.
Among Bursa heavyweights, Maybank and CIMB eased one sen each to RM8.63 and RM5.39, respectively, Public Bank and TNB strengthened three sen each to RM4.15 and RM9.54, respectively, while Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM8.25.
Of the actives, ATA IMS rose one sen to 36.5 sen, Zen Tech International and SMTrack inched down half-a-sen to 5.5 sen and 4.5 sen, respectively, while MY E.G. Services and Hong Seng Consolidated were flat at 71.5 sen and 20 sen, respectively.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index slipped 30.98 points to 10,708.61, the FBMT 100 Index gave up 30.75 points to 10,375.45, the FBM ACE Index was 27.93 points lower at 5,761.91, the FBM Emas Shariah Index went down 46.42 points to 11,052.27, and the FBM 70 Index fell 72.27 points to 13,616.86.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.35 of-a-point to 189.63, the Plantation Index slid 13.29 points to 6,887.03, and the Energy Index lost 8.33 points to 885.49.
However, the Financial Services Index was 0.28 of-a-point higher at 15,954.84. ― Bernama
