
KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 ― Bursa Malaysia remained slightly higher at mid-morning, taking the cue from a positive Wall Street performance overnight.
At 11.03am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) climbed up 2.57 points to 1,409.12 from yesterday's close of 1,406.55.
The market bellwether opened 2.05 points higher at 1,408.60.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing decliners 421 to 278, while 342 counters were unchanged, 1,232 untraded, and seven others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 1.45 billion units worth RM665.16 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank advanced six sen to RM8.46, CIMB added three sen to RM5.22 while TNB and IHH Healthcare were flat at RM9.47 and RM5.88, respectively.
Public Bank eased one sen to RM3.98 and Petronas Chemicals fell two sen to RM6.80.
As for the actives, Green Packet and Advance Synergy both edged up half-a-sen to five sen and 14 sen, Hong Seng Consolidated and Careplus were flat at 13.5 sen and 31.5 sen, and Bintai Kinden trimmed half-a-sen to 7.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index expanded by 24.47 points to 10,315.25, the FBMT 100 Index improved by 21.64 points to 10,008.97 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index increased by 14.45 points to 10,632.73.
The FBM 70 Index went up 42.91 points to 13,333.36, and the FBM ACE Index rose 36.35 points to 5,297.40.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 61.49 points higher at 15,595.57, the Industrial Products and Services Index perked up 0.12 of a point to 167.13 and the Energy Index added 10.45 points to 805.68.
The Plantation Index strengthened by 11.94 points to 6,764.26 and the Transportation and Logistics Index gave up 0.59 of-a-point to 908.24. ― Bernama
