
KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 ― Bursa Malaysia remained in negative territory at mid-morning, weighed down by selling activities mainly in the plantation, technology as well as industrial products and services counters amidst weak market sentiment.
At 11.02am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased by 4.22 points to 1,400.71 from 1,404.93 at yesterday's close.
The market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 370 to 300, while 336 counters were unchanged, 1,258 untraded and 60 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.02 billion units worth RM627.68 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank increased 1.0 sen to RM8.61, while Public Bank and CelcomDigi decreased 2.0 sen each to RM3.87 and RM4.54, respectively, Tenaga Nasional fell 22.0 sen to RM9.53, and Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM6.87.
Among the most active counters, Dagang Nexchange added 2.5 sen to 41.5 sen, YTL perked 2.0 sen to 92.0 sen, Bahvest Resources earned 1.5 sen to 21.5 sen and Widad Group edged up half-a-sen to 43.5 sen, while Cloudpoint Technology slid 2.0 sen to 49.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 14.68 points lower at 10,310.37, the FBMT 100 Index reduced by 14.89 points to 10,016.72, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index weakened 27.85 points to 10,682.22, while the FBM 70 Index added 42.97 points to 13,624.59 and the FBM ACE Index grew 3.72 points to 4,974.80.
Sector-wise, the Energy Index gained 9.82 points to 823.69 and the Financial Services Index rose by 23.27 points to 15,320.55, while the Industrial Products and Services Index trimmed 0.88 of-a-point to 163.65 and the Plantation Index went down 56.55 points to 6,737.86. ― Bernama
