
KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 ― Bursa Malaysia stayed weaker at mid-afternoon, dragged down by persistent selling in heavyweight counters, led by financial services.
At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 11.71 points to 1,413.48 from yesterday’s close of 1,425.19.
The barometer index opened 3.22 points weaker at 1,421.97.
The market breadth was negative with decliners thumping gainers 485 to 269, while 370 counters were unchanged, 1,170 untraded and 25 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.76 billion units valued at RM941.37 million.
Of the heavyweight counters, Maybank and Petronas Chemicals shrank six sen each to RM8.59 and RM7.14, Public Bank lost four sen to RM3.89, CIMB dropped 10 sen to RM5.06 and CelcomDigi fell three sen to RM4.38.
As for the actives, Star Media bagged 10 sen to 61 sen, Computer Forms inched up half-a-sen to 27 sen, while Fitters Diversified was flat at five sen and Vinvest fell half-a-sen to 19.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index narrowed to 77.02 points to 10,386.08, the FBMT 100 Index dropped 77.88 points to 10,071.64 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index decreased 67.14 points to 10,739.39.
The FBM ACE Index was 9.03 points lower at 5,310.61 and the FBM 70 index plunged 81.17 points to 13,548.44.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index shaved 0.91 of a point to 171.05, the Financial Services Index dipped 126.46 points to 15,497.38 and the Plantation Index went down 51.15 points to 6,877.46. ― Bernama
