KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 ― Bursa Malaysia turned lower at mid-morning today as profit-taking emerged in selected heavyweights, in line with the weaker sentiment among its regional bourses.

At 11.02am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) dropped 0.34 of-a-point to 1,405.76 from 1,406.10 at yesterday’s close.

The key index opened 1.44 points firmer at 1,407.54.

The broader market was negative as decliners led advancers 399 to 259, while 386 counters were unchanged, 1,242 untraded and 14 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.45 billion units worth RM623.94 million.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank was unchanged at RM8.85 and IHH Healthcare gained four sen to RM5.84, while Public Bank lost one sen to RM3.98, CIMB slid two sen to RM5.27 and Tenaga Nasional shed three sen to RM9.10.

Of the actives, Classita added one sen to 23.5 sen and Bahvest Resources gained 2.5 sen to 28.5 sen, while Advance Synergy was flat at 16.5 sen, UEM Sunrise went down half-a-sen to 38 sen and Kumpulan Jetson reduced 3.5 sen to 29 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 0.17 of-a-point to 10,415.23, the FBMT 100 Index edged up 1.50 points to 10,096.70, the FBM Emas Shariah Index increased 7.55 points to 10,694.01 and the FBM 70 Index gained 18.73 points to 13,917.44.

However, the FBM ACE Index dropped 2.04 points to 5,332.60.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index shed 15.93 points to 15,737.67 and the Energy Index gave up 1.84 points to 810.65.

Meanwhile, the Plantation Index went up 57.29 points to 6,936.11 and the Industrial Products and Services Index inched up 0.30 of-a-point to 161.86. ― Bernama
