Bursa’s Wahid Omar appointed WWF-M’sia chairman effective tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia Bhd’s Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar will be WWF-Malaysia’s new chairman tomorrow onwards while outgoing chair Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz will be serving as president at the organisation.

Wahid is taking over the role of chairman from Tunku Ali Redhauddin, who completes his eight-year term today.

Prior to this, Wahid has been a WWF-Malaysia trustee since March 2019.

“As a sustainability advocate who has been part of the WWF-Malaysia family for three years, I am honoured to be entrusted with this added responsibility as chairman. 

“I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Tunku Ali (Redhauddin) for his immense contribution as chairman. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role as president.”

Wahid was a senator and minister in the Prime Minister’s Department from June 2013 to June 2016. Later, he served as group chairman of Permodalan Nasional Bhd from August 2016 to June 2018. He currently chairs Bursa Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Tunku Ali Redhauddin divides his time between corporate, non-profit and educational institutions while continuing his efforts in conservation and heritage preservation as a trustee of Amanah Warisan Negara.

He is also a chairman and founding trustee of Teach For Malaysia, and chairman of Cancer Research Malaysia.
