Bus firm announces reduced trips on key routes following LTFRB suspension

MANILA, Philippines — Victory Liner, Inc. has announced reduced trips on several major routes after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) imposed a 30-day suspension on a number of the company's buses.

In an advisory, the bus operator said trips on the Dagupan–Baguio and PITX–Tuguegarao routes would be reduced due to the temporary suspension of part of its fleet. The LTFRB order also covered buses operating on the Sta. Cruz, Zambales–Baguio route.

The suspension will remain in effect while the company completes the submission of required documents and while authorities continue investigating recent incidents involving its buses.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and delays this temporary suspension will cause," Victory Liner said in a statement. "We understand that many workers, students, families, tourists and businesspeople rely on these routes daily, and we deeply regret any hardship they may experience during this time."

The company also extended its condolences to the family of a passenger who died in one of the incidents and offered prayers for the recovery of those who were injured.

Victory Liner said it is fully cooperating with the LTFRB and other government agencies by immediately submitting the required documents and complying with all directives issued by regulators.

The company, which has operated for more than 80 years, reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and accountability as it works to restore normal operations.

Earlier this week, the LTFRB ordered the 30-day suspension of 15 Victory Liner buses after one of the company's units collided with a truck in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, resulting in the death of a passenger.

The agency said the latest suspension was in addition to an order grounding 26 Victory Liner buses following a separate crash involving two of its units in Tuba, Benguet, where nearly 100 passengers were injured.
