Businessman behind Kudat land deal withdraws investments

KOTA KINABALU - The businessman behind the Kudat land deal controversy, Datuk Seri Thomas Hah Tiing Siu has decided not to proceed with his business plan in Sabah.

Hah decided to withdraw his investments following allegations of abuse of power involving Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

"After considering the issues and controversies raised by certain parties, with deep regret, the company has made a prudent decision to withdraw the investment proposal for the development of the agricultural sector in the area," he said in a statement.

Hah however said he has yet to submit a formal decision to the State government.

On October 9, Hajiji refuted allegations that he had abused his authority as Sabah chief minister to approve six land applications involving 2,993 acres of land in Balambagan Island.

This follows a report by the now-deleted Facebook account Edisi Panas Sabah.

Hajiji also threatened action against any officers he believed may have been involved in releasing “confidential documents” that were posted on the social media account.

Former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia had also come to the defence of Hah and Hajiji. - The Vibes, October 17, 2023
