KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a businessman with the title “Datuk” for allegedly deceiving a man into paying about RM6,000 in return for help securing a state award from Pahang.
The man, in his 40s, was detained around Monday noon when he came to the Sabah MACC office to give a statement.
Initial investigations found the suspect had, in 2023, offered to help the victim obtain a Datukship title despite having no authority to do so.
