The durian season has been upon us for quite a while, and for a durian lover, this is the best time of the year.
As durians are a product of nature (meaning that there is no quality control for the flesh whatsoever), we might end up with a few that are inedible. However, the story that we are about to tell you is something we have never seen before in all our lives!
A viral video on TikTok shows a woman opening up a durian kunyit (worth RM38 for a kilo), and at first glance, it looks like…. there’s no flesh!
After looking properly, we can see that there is durian flesh there, but it’s so tiny, like water droplets!
According to Jieyha, who posted the video, she said that the size is as big as a bead.
Many netizens, including us, found the video amusing, and a few commented that Jieyha bought a durian and got durian ‘raisins’ instead, while others asked her to eat the shell.
“Just eat the shell.”
“That’s the thing, the shell is heavy, but the flesh is only a raisin.”
Some say that this durian has not matured yet, so that’s why the flesh is so tiny. Others shared tips on ensuring we do not get scammed when buying the king of fruits.
“This one is not ripe yet.”
“Next time when buying durians, ask them to open it on the spot. When you see the flesh, then only buy it because sometimes, there is only one row of flesh.”
“This is why I buy those that have been put into containers.”
Be it as it may, Jieyha did not return the durian but just accepted it as fate.
