BYD Flash Charging To Be Previewed In Malaysia, Fjord Green Denza Z9GT Now Available

BYD Malaysia previews BYD Flash Charging infrastructure: 10% to 97% in 9 Minutes for DENZA Z9GT; new Fjord Green colour debuts.

Building upon the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with PETRONAS green energy arm Gentari in Shenzhen, BYD Malaysia has officially outlined plans to deploy its next-generation BYD Flash Charging network across the country.

The high-power infrastructure initiative is engineered to narrow the gap between EV charging downtime and conventional petrol refueling stops, running on the banner: “Ready in 5, Full in 9 Minutes.”

To celebrate the milestone, luxury sub-brand DENZA Malaysia has introduced a new exterior color option—Fjord Green—for its flagship luxury shooting brake, the DENZA Z9GT, which stands as one of the inaugural nameplates on local roads compatible with the ultra-high-rate architecture.

“Ready in 5, Full in 9 Minutes”: Next-Gen 1,000V Charging Tech

BYD Flash Charging reaches its maximum operating potential when paired with vehicles equipped with the brand’s Second-Generation Blade Battery.

Under optimal operating conditions, the DENZA Z9GT—which packs a massive 122.49 kWh battery pack built on a 1,000-volt high-voltage electrical architecture—showcases the outer limits of the charging technology:

• 10% to 70% in 5 Minutes: Rapid top-up speeds inject approximately 400 km of driving range within a typical coffee break.
• 10% to 97% in 9 Minutes: A near-complete replenishment completed in under ten minutes, addressing the traditional taper-off bottleneck that affects conventional DC fast chargers at higher states of charge (SoC).
• Backward Compatibility: Existing BYD and DENZA models utilizing standard 400V or 800V setups remain fully compatible with the new charging bays, with power delivery dynamically metered according to each car’s maximum hardware ceiling.

Speaking on the rollout, Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, stated that the infrastructure initiative aims to ensure charging availability keeps pace with soaring EV adoption rates. In tandem with hardware deployment, the program will focus heavily on upskilling local technicians and engineering personnel to support high-voltage maintenance across the broader ecosystem.

Phased Rollout: Showroom Hubs First, Highway Corridors Next

Initial deployment will focus on selected DENZA luxury dealerships, providing early access to owners of high-voltage flagship vehicles.

From there, BYD Malaysia will collaborate with Gentari to expand installations across high-throughput public corridors:

• PETRONAS Service Stations: High-traffic metropolitan fueling stops targeted for rapid turnaround charging.
• Intercity Expressways: Strategic trunk corridors linking major urban hubs across Peninsular Malaysia.
• Highway R&R Rest Areas: Selected rest and service locations along major highways, supported by localized battery energy storage systems (BESS) to relieve local grid strain during peak festive travel.

DENZA Z9GT Adds Fjord Green: Over 100 Units Delivered

Alongside the infrastructure announcement, DENZA Malaysia confirmed that deliveries of the DENZA Z9GT have crossed the 100-unit threshold nationwide since its launch.

Priced from RM358,800, the grand tourer is built on the advanced e3 platform, packing an astonishing tri-motor output of 850 kW (1,156 PS) that sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds while boasting rear-wheel steering tricks like Compass Turn and Crab Walk.

The newly added Fjord Green exterior hue joins existing Obsidian Black and Rime Gold paint finishes. Cabin upholstery schemes are tailored to specific exterior pairings:

Motorists can view the DENZA Z9GT in Fjord Green across DENZA’s eight authorized showrooms nationwide—including Balakong, Glenmarie, KLCC, KL North, Old Klang Road, Melaka, Penang, and Skudai.
