BYD Cars Philippines on Wednesday said it has surpassed the company’s 2025 annual sales volume just eight months into 2026.
As of end-August, BYD Philippines has sold 28,399 units, outperforming its 26,122 units of sales recorded last year.
BYD Cars Managing Director Bob Palanca said the market response to their best-selling models and their achievement of breaching their full-year 2025 sales is proof that electric vehicles (EVs) have entered the mainstream in the Philippines.
He added that Filipino consumers are choosing the brand due to its delivery of what matters most, particularly innovation, practicality, dependability and lower ownership costs without compromise.
"As electric mobility continues to accelerate across the country, BYD is proud to lead the shift, and we remain committed to bring more world-class electric and plug-in hybrid technologies to Filipino drivers," Palanca added.
This came after the company sold 4,682 units in August, which reflects the brand’s strong momentum this year.
It also cited the firm’s record-high monthly sales figures of 5,730 units in April, a 258-percent increase from its sales during the same month of the previous year.
The company attributed the growth to its plug-in hybrid technology.
For the first eight months of the year, the brand sold 22,555 DM-i cars, up 95 percent from its 11,542 units of sales last year.
BYD Sealion 6 DM-i leads the category and is also the brand's best-selling model overall, with 7,759 units sold, or 27 percent of the company's total sales during the period.
The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i has also made a significant contribution to sales in the category, with 2,512 units sold as of August.
BYD's fully electric lineup has grown by triple digits.
Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales increased 115 percent to 5,844 units between January and August from a total of 2,720 units in 2025.
The BYD eMAX 7 was the best-selling BEV in this category, accounting for 1,975 units, or 34 percent of the brand's total BEV sales.
BYD Philippines said local company's performance aligns with BYD's global success, with the brand selling 440,293 units of NEVs in August.
