Yesterday (16 December), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a Cabinet reshuffle, with several notable changes, including two Ministers being dropped from the Cabinet completely.

Despite the major changes, though, Anwar’s position as Finance Minister remains unchanged; a fact the Opposition is more than eager to remind him about.

PAS MP offered “condolences” to Anwar over the ‘death’ of his previous reform promises

In response to the Cabinet reshuffle, PAS Information Chief Fadhli Shaari issued a sarcastic statement over the ‘death’ of the reform promises previously made by Anwar.

Taking to his Facebook page, Fadhli, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pasir Mas, cynically offered his “condolences” over the announcement, which did not change the two positions held by Anwar.

“The new Cabinet has finally been announced. The Prime Minister is still holding the Finance Minister post. The important ‘reform’ promise has finally been officially buried. Condolences,” he wrote.

The all-new Cabinet line-up

As we previously reported, Hannah Yeoh is no longer the Minister of Youth and Sports, and will now take over as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), replacing Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. Meanwhile, Mohammed Taufiq bin Johari, the MP for Sungai Petani, has been appointed as the new Minister of Youth and Sports.

Adam Adli, who served as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, has also been reshuffled to the Ministry of Higher Education as Deputy Minister.

Another notable change in the cabinet reshuffle is the removal of Yeoh’s predecessor in the Federal Territories portfolio, Datuk Seri Zaliha Mustafa, from the Cabinet entirely.

Similarly, Datuk Setia Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, who previously served as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), has also been dropped from the Cabinet.

The full list of the reshuffled Cabinet is as follows:
