Cabinet to discuss call for FELDA forensic audit

SERDANG, Aug 25 - The proposal for a forensic audit to be conducted into the management of the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (FELDA) will be discussed by the Cabinet, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We will bring it to the Cabinet meeting for discussion,” he told the media briefly after attending the National Maulidur Rasul Celebration at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) today.

Anwar was responding to a question about Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s suggestion that a forensic audit be conducted to determine whether there had been abuse of power, breach of trust or governance violations in FELDA’s management.

On Sunday (August 23), Zahid said a management audit alone would be insufficient, given that issues involving the agency had persisted for a long time and resulted in losses amounting to billions of ringgit.

Previously, Anwar said he would wait for the full report from the special task force investigating FELDA’s management issues before making any official announcement.

The task force has begun its work and is expected to present its findings soon, similar to the Royal Commission of Inquiry report on Tabung Haji.
