Cabinet to discuss terms of reference for corporate mafia probe next week

THE terms of reference for a special task force to investigate allegations of corporate mafia activity will be presented to the Cabinet next week, says Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

The Unity Government spokesperson, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim informed the Cabinet of the planned presentation during its meeting today.

“The Prime Minister informed the Cabinet that, on the issue of the corporate mafia, the terms of reference for the special task force that will investigate the allegations will be presented at next week’s Cabinet meeting,” he said at a post-Cabinet press conference in Putrajaya today.

In a separate matter, the government has directed the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd to provide a detailed explanation of problems affecting local navigation application TUJU, including the causes of disruptions, its current performance and corrective measures.

Fahmi said the explanation was necessary to ensure that users’ complaints were addressed comprehensively and the application’s reliability improved.

He said TUJU was officially launched by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi on Nov 26, 2025, and LLM had acknowledged that users were experiencing problems.

LLM had also informed the government that efforts to improve the application were under way, he added.

“However, LLM and Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd must provide a specific and detailed explanation of the issues raised by users, including the causes of the problems, technical aspects, the application’s current performance status, and the corrective measures and improvement processes under way or planned,” he said.

On Indonesia’s forest fires, Fahmi said the Cabinet had been informed that no Malaysian companies had so far been identified as being involved in forest-burning activities in the neighbouring country.

He said the government had taken note of action by Indonesian authorities against 11 companies in connection with the forest-fire issue.

“To date, no Malaysian companies have been detected as being involved in forest-burning activities in Indonesia,” he said.

Malaysia remained ready to assist Indonesia in tackling the fires, including by providing assets if required, Fahmi said.

However, he said the Foreign Ministry and the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry were still awaiting a full response from Indonesia on the forms of assistance it was prepared to accept.

The government would continue monitoring developments, particularly the impact of the fires on air quality and the risk of transboundary pollution, he said.

Fahmi added that Malaysia stressed the importance of maintaining good diplomatic relations with Indonesia, including through cooperation in addressing issues affecting both countries. - October 23, 2026
