Today we’re heading to Soulyard, a popular brunch café nestled in the neighbourhood of OUG. Known for its warm atmosphere and solid comfort food, this spot is ideal for those who love a lively café vibe and hearty meals.

Environment

We visited during a public holiday hence the café was packed, and we had to wait around 20 minutes to be seated. Despite the crowd, food was served surprisingly fast. The space isn’t huge, but it’s efficiently arranged with ample seating to accommodate families and small groups. The café was buzzing with chatter and activity, but we did notice a few customers getting some work done, so it's possible to sneak in a productive hour or two.

Food

We sampled their brunch menu, starting with the Banger & Mash (RM23) — a plate of chicken sausage, mashed potatoes, tater tots, caramelized onions, an onsen egg, and sourdough. A solid pick if you’re a breakfast person who enjoys variety in one plate. The Mushroom Forest Toast (RM24) also impressed with its mix of creamy mushroom fricassee, sour cream, rocket, and an onsen egg — rich, earthy, and satisfying. We also tried the House Garden Salad (RM18) which was simple but refreshing, especially with the unexpected addition of berries and citrus fruit that lifted the flavour. We also tried the Croque Madame (RM25), which came with ham, cheddar, sunny-side-up egg, milk loaf, and a side of berries compote and salad. While it looked promising, the flavours didn’t particularly stand out. It’s a decent choice, but not one we’d rave about.

Accessibility

There’s outdoor parking available, making it easy to drive over for a weekend brunch.

Verdict

Soulyard is a warm and lively neighbourhood café with good brunch options and a fast-moving kitchen. I’d definitely come back to try their pasta or rice dishes next time, and maybe visit on a quieter weekday for a more relaxed experience.
