In today’s café series, we’re exploring a quiet, hidden gem tucked inside the beautifully designed Tsutaya Books at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Ivy Tokyo is a place for book lovers and café-goers who enjoy studying or working in a peaceful space surrounded by books - a perfect blend of minimalist Japanese aesthetics with a calming atmosphere.
Environment
The café seamlessly blends into the bookstore’s serene layout. With warm wood tones, soft lighting, and minimalist décor, the space feels more like a curated reading lounge than a typical café. Study-friendly? Yes - provided you don’t need any plug points. There are ample comfortable seats for solo-readers, or if you’re going with a group of friends.

Food & Drinks
Their food and drinks follow the “less is more” approach with a selection of visually appealing cakes and quality coffee. I ordered their tiramisu (RM16) and an iced latte (RM14), and both delivered in flavour and quality.

The tiramisu had a rich, creamy layer of mascarpone cheese that leaned on the cheesier side, making it more filling than the usual light, airy style. It’s perfect if you enjoy a more indulgent dessert. The iced latte was smooth and bold, with a slightly stronger coffee profile and low acidity, which is a great pick for those who prefer their coffee less sour and more robust.
Ivy Tokyo also offers other Japanese-inspired food selections like sandwiches, pastries and fried snacks, with prices ranging from RM10 to RM25.
Accessibility
Located inside Pavilion Bukit Jalil (Level 2), just follow the signs to Tsutaya Books. There’s plenty of indoor basement parking, and it’s accessible via LRT (Awan Besar station with free shuttle buses).
Verdict
Ivy Tokyo is my personal favourite go-to café for light work and a quiet escape. It offers a lifestyle experience where you can ease into tasks, take mindful breaks to read, enjoy the book-filled atmosphere while enjoying a good coffee and dessert. Whether you are recharging or creating, this hidden gem is worth a visit.
