KOTA KINABALU: Authorities have been urged to carry out a thorough investigation into a viral incident at the Tanjung Lipat public area here involving two individuals recorded behaving indecently in public.

Sayang Sabah Community Club deputy president Steve Johnny Mositun (pic) said the openly filmed act had alarmed the public as it ignored social norms, decency and public sensitivities.

He said public spaces are not private domains and warned against misinterpreting personal freedom in ways that erode self-respect and disrupt social harmony in Sabah.

Steve called for a fair and detailed investigation, adding that action should be considered not only against those involved but also against anyone who recorded and circulated the footage if laws were breached.

He cautioned that treating such incidents as normal could weaken moral values over time and urged collective responsibility to safeguard Sabah’s social values alongside its physical development.
