
PUTATAN: The relevant authorities have been urged to install streetlights along the Ulu Terawi-Putatan road to prevent accidents at night.
Parti Warisan Putatan Division Women Chief Juriah Uda said Putatan, a suburban district located between Penampang and Kota Kinabalu, should not face infrastructure and utility issues such as the lack of streetlights.
AdvertisementShe said the poorly-lit road becomes especially hazardous during rainy weather, with limited visibility, particularly for drivers of smaller vehicles.
This, she warned, increases the risk of road accidents.

Elected representatives, especially those in the Putatan District Action Committee, must be more attentive to the needs of the community in the area,” Juriah said in a statement, Tuesday.
She further said installing solar streetlights along the road would not incur significant costs, stressing that the Government must fulfil its responsibility to prevent accidents and potential loss of life due to inadequate road illumination.
