Call to raise diesel subsidy allocation to 500 litres

Kota Kinabalu: Kuamut Assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah (pic) has urged the Federal Government to increase the Budi diesel subsidy quota for Sabah and Sarawak from 200 litres to 500 litres a month.

He said rural residents in Sabah travel much greater distances than those in Peninsular Malaysia, making the current allocation inadequate, during his debate on the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 on Monday.

Masiung also called for village heads to be appointed for 12 new villages in Kuamut and urged the Government to prioritise his constituency under the supplementary allocation for the Water Department to address ongoing piped water shortages.
